85 Posts | IMPORTANT PLEASE READCommissions Update - 6/2/2012 - CLOSED as of 6/18/2012So yeah, I've decided to sort of do "commissions", this is for the sake of my own art practice. Here's the deal: They're free for now, and I'll draw your characters and take your pose, outfit, etc. suggestions. However, I choose who to draw, when to draw them, whether to color, and I get final say on poses, outfits, etc. There's also no guarantee that I'll draw yours or how long it'll take, I may not at all, so please don't bug me about it.
If you want one done, send me a forum IM here with reference pics and outfit/pose/etc description. If you don't send a forum IM, I likely will not do the request. I won't likely reply to the IM unless I need more details, but I'll add your name to the list so you know I received it. I don't plan on doing more than one per person, so if you send references for a few characters, I'll choose one of them to do. If you want one in specific done, then only send one, or note it in the IM (though I can choose to ignore that). However, if you send me a pose/action suggestion, I'll likely do something based on that.
Note: This list is in the order I received the request by forum IM, and while I might change it up, I am currently going down the list in order. To do List

Moderator 725 Posts | That's really nice! The colour and linework is really great! |
Member 1271 Posts | It IS very good.
If you were trying to do a Bruce Lee pose, I think the one thing you're missing is the sense of perspective on the legs. The front leg doesn't seem to be closer than the back leg. Perspective is one of the hardest things for an artist to get right, so it's only a small problem ^^
Overall, great work :) |

Thanks. That's a good observation, probably didn't help that I ran out of space on the paper and couldn't finish the legs either XD I'm trying to learn how to draw entirely with a tablet now, so that shouldn't be an issue anymore. |
85 Posts | Finally decided to do a new picture, this time of my character Nightchild. Tried out a new shading style, basically trying to mimic that heavy contrast shadows. I really like how it turned out actually, I might keep doing that. |
116 Posts | Stunning!
If I could use only one word to describe it, I'd say..."Authentic". It's very high quality, and definitely worthy of being considered professional talent! Well done! |
41 Posts | I am amazed like everyone else, but there's a site that give you a lot of poses and artists from industries used this site to train themselves. Would like to have it or pass it and... what program did you used?
Gimp, Photoshop or one random anime program which I can't remember the name. xD

Thanks! Though I'd have to disagree, I've seen professional and I'm a long way away. It's a pretty static and easy pose I did, I wanted to do a more actiony type pose originally, but I couldn't manage a lot of the advanced techniques it requires.

Sure, that sounds helpful, one of my biggest problems right now is anatomy in advanced poses, which references always helps resolve. As to the program, for Nightchild I drew everything on a tablet (I used a pencil sketch for the Ashanti one), so the whole thing was done from start to finish in that random anime program you can't remember the name of XD. It's called Paint Tool SAI, I'm much more familiar with Photoshop, but Paint Tool SAI is way better at drawing lineart with a tablet than Photoshop is. However, when the lineart and coloring work was done in SAI, I took it over to Photoshop to finish it. |
41 Posts | Thanks for the info about the program and now, here's the site and you probably have heard of it. http://www.posemaniacs.com/It has plenty of poses and sets, you'll love it. |

I've used that site before, myself. Very useful. |
PRIMUS Mod 459 Posts | So, Ashanti, interested in commission work (or just something else to draw)? I think your art style (especially your first picture) would translate well into drawing my main, Razira (PDB page linked in the sig below).
Interested? Please let me know. |

Thanks a lot, I do remember seeing that site, but I completely forgot about it. That could be very useful!

I'm not really doing commissions right now, most of my stuff is practice/experimental, so I tend to draw stuff that'd be interesting to try something new with. Maybe once I'm comfortable with drawing this kind of stuff, but I think I've got a long way to go. |
85 Posts | Put up a new picture, I really wanted one of Ashanti's Eagle Express courier uniform to show what that looks like.
Tried the comic shading/coloring stuff on Ashanti. Don't like it as much as I did with Nightchild, not sure if I messed something up or if I just rushed it. Will have to mess around with it some next time. |
PRIMUS Mod 361 Posts | You are an amazing artist, Ashanti :) |
PRIMUS Mod 459 Posts | It might be the brighter colors overall on Ashanti that make it not look as good to you in your eyes. I dunno, as I think it turned out just fine.
I like the outfit overall on her - looks like something a super-speeder would wear, as it doesn't get in the way of her running motions at all. |

Maybe it is a bit too bright, doesn't feel like I shaded it quite fully. Ah well. And thanks, that's her uniform for the courier company I created, Eagle Express, not the normal fair for their employee uniforms, but hers is custom tailored for super speed. I have that costume in CO, but it doesn't look anything like that picture outside of the vague colors XD Unfortunately, you can't put normal clothing on cheetah fur characters :/ That's why I wanted to have a drawing to point to for people to get the idea. |
PRIMUS Mod 459 Posts | Yeah, sadly there's no 'skin' layer where you can just put whatever you want on top of it. Annoying when say, jeans make any underlying skin pattern just outright vanish.
That said, tried the new Patterned Armor costume pack? It opens up a new Hips Wear & Gear item that might work for Ashanti. That and say, the Golden Age, Heroic Formal, or Pulp Chest Wear items might give you the look you're looking for ingame. |

Yeah, I use the subligar plus jean pattern to make jean shorts. It's a shame though that the options are so limited. I'd have liked to do something closer to that outfit, which is more possible with the clothes with skin options. |
85 Posts | New Picture, one of Kliffoth's character, Elegy. Also, here's a maskless version of Elegy: |
